Tea anyone??

My niece Katie was in charge of coordinating a Bridal Shower for a friend of hers and we were looking through some cake books and we saw a really pretty teapot cake that we were going to attempt to replicate.

This is a picture of our inspiration cake.....

This is the replicated cake.....

I couldn't do all the tiny tea cups and teapot on the top so I simplified the teapot topper.  Also couldn't find the pearls for around the edges, so I just piped a border.  Like with ALL firsts, a few mistakes and imperfections are visible but next time it will be better.  :-)

Rapunzel Cake

Met a really sweet lady at the pediatric dentist one day and after chatting a while I gave her my card.  One day she called and needed a Rapunzel (from the Disney's Tangled Movie) cake for her daughter's 7th birthday.  She wanted bling also.  I tried my very best to make her daughter's day special...

Happy 7th Birthday Jessica.
I am so glad your party turned out GREAT!!!
Your Mommy is one awesome lady!

Luau Cakes

I had the opportunity to make 3 cupcake pull apart cakes for the boys Summer Camp a few weeks ago.  They were having a Hawaiian Luau Party and everyone enjoyed themselves.  Here are the cakes I did...

I tried like he!! to add a hula dancer and a surfer but unfortunately I burned my hand taking cupcakes out of the oven when I was baking them and my hand gave out on me with the piping bag when I went to decorate the cakes.  Everyone was happy anyway espically the kids!!

Silver Knights...Graduation Cake for Joey!

My niece Katie and I just got done making a cake for her brother's high school graduation.  They waited until summer to have his party because they wanted to have it at a pool hall and this is the cake that Katie designed.  This is absolutely ALL her creativity, I only helped her put it together.  Oh ok, I may have made a few minor suggestions but it was 97% her creativity!  It really is an awesome cake!

Her brother plays guitar, was on the baseball and swim teams, and took a film and film production in high school.

Congrats Joey!!  You deserve it kiddo!!

Cement Mason "Daddy DeNiro" Cake

My niece Katie wanted to make a special cake for her Dad, Joe's, 61st birthday and after looking at a few fondant cake books she came up with an awesome idea for a really fun cake.  I guess you can call it the Cement Mason cake.  His nickname is "Pops" and sometimes they refer to him as "Daddy DeNiro" and here is his cake.....

We both worked on putting him together.  It is a cupcake "pull apart" cake covered in green butter cream grass.  Has a fondant pond with fish, napping kitty, pavement, "happy bday sign, flowers, and everything is surrounded with the fondant stones as well.

Happy Birthday Joe...enjoy your cake!

My first fondant cake.....

My twin boys are graduating from Kindergarten tomorrow June 15th and I don't really have a lot of money to give them a HUGE PARTY.  So I took the one item I could splurge on and went crazy.  I made them a cake and for the first time EVER I used fondant to cover it.  I have wanted to work with it before but was never brave enough until now.  I did the cake in the school colors.

Congratulations to my sweet boys CJ and Michael.

First grade here they come!

Ice Cream Scoops for parties

and guess what, they don't melt!!  I have seen these done and I have no idea why it always looked like so much work to me but I tried one tonight after my niece Katie texted me from a party she was at and they were making ice cream scoop cupcakes.  This is my version of pistachio ice cream....

These are a great idea for a kids party and can even be baked right in ice cream cones.  If interested, call CakeChic at 215-284-3948

Bridal Shower Cupcakes

I spent my entire day today finishing a HUGE order for bridal shower cupcakes.  The Step Mother to be ordered them in the bridal party colors.  She supplied some of the candies, the molds to make more chocolates and the boxes that they will be displayed in.  They will be given away as shower favors.

Here are the beautiful boxes that the client provided.  It was a bit of work to individually box them but now my client doesn't have to worry about ruining the frosting to box them herself.  I did it for her.

Best wishes to the Bride and Groom!

Baby Shower Cake

Another opportunity to perfect the baby carriage cake!!  A teacher at school saw the cake I did for my son's teacher's staff baby shower and fell completely in love with the cake and ordered it for her sis-i-l's baby shower.  I was thrilled to have another opportunity to make the cake because I love working on this cake cause it is just so much fun to do.  However, I was a bit disappointed that I had to do it in blue once again!!  I may never get the opportunity to make it in pink!!  Oh well, being the Mother of twin boys, I am partial to blue anyway!  LOL

So I just had to box and wrap it up pretty for her.  She really is such an awesome teacher at school and I do also like to go the extra mile for all my customers.  I like to think it makes them feel they are getting that little something extra that they WON'T get at any supermarket or a bakery.

Best wishes to Mom to be!!

Cupcake Rose Garden

So tonight my niece Katie and I finished a Cupcake Rose Garden for my nephew's Mother for Mother's Day.  She piped 1/2 and I piped 1/2 of the roses and let me tell you, I think her roses are BEAUTIFUL!!!  She sure can give me a run for my money when it comes to piping roses!!  I won't tell you which ones are hers and which ones are mine!

This is the one that she did for her Mother for Mother's Day.  She piped all of these herself and they are gorgeous for her first try at roses....

So Happy Mother's Day to both the lucky recipients of these beautiful roses gardens.

If you are interested in giving someone special a Cupcake Rose Garden as a gift, maybe for a birthday, maybe an anniversary, a Mother who just gave birth, a teacher or an administrative assistant....call me, CakeChic, at 215-284-3948.

Nephew's Birthday Cake

So my nephew's birthday is today but we surprised him Wednesday night , with a dinner and cake party.  His g/f Katie took him out Tuesday night so I could finish his cake.  He wanted a banana, chocolate mousse, strawberry shortcake and it was a success....well sort of a success!!  Oh how upset I was that his cake wasn't perfect.  I thought I had it nailed since his practice cake came out PERFECTLY!!!  Here is the practice one...

Ok so the cake was perfect when I poured the chocolate ganache over it....I turned around to clean up a bit and when I returned to the cake, it turned into FrankenCake!!  eeeekkkk!!  What a disaster!

So I attempted to fix it....really no biggie...right??  This is what it looked like when I hid it in the fridge for the night.  It was fixed!!  Whew, that would have been a disaster!!

Until the next day when I peeked at it about an hour before the surprise guests were to arrive....OMG, what a disaster this was!!  How would I fix this?  I wouldn't, I'd cry and explain that it was a perfect cake once it was put into the fridge the night before and this is what it looks like approx 1 hour before the party Wednesday night.....

Oh well at least it was delicious!!  It got an "EPIC FAIL" on appearance but on taste, it was given an A++!!

So that was my attempt to make my sweet nephew a perfect birthday cake....he is crazy enough to still think it was simply perfect in taste and LOOKS!!  Someone needs to talk with him!!  ROFL

Baby Shower Cake

So my son Michael's Teacher is pregnant and I decided that I would make the cake for the staff baby shower they were going to have for her Wednesday May 4th 2011.  It took me 2 days to make such a massive cake but I think it came out absolutely gorgeous!!

I just had to package it up pretty, pretty for one AWESOME Teacher!
